What is the best route to go down with candida? I’m having trouble sticking to the diet, etc.
Do you have candida? Probably, yes! It is completely normal to have candida, a type of yeast, as part of your diverse ecosystem in your gut. Hopefully, you will have a good balance of beneficial bacteria to prevent candida overgrowing. However, sometimes the balance of beneficial bacteria can be disrupted (e.g. through high dose antibiotics) and candida can overgrow and produce toxins, which ultimately results in symptoms. Common Candida overgrowth symptoms include bloating, wind, sugar cravings and fatigue.
How do you know if you have candida overgrowth? Whilst Dr. Google may suggest your symptoms indicate candida overgrowth, these symptoms may relate to many other conditions. With this in mind, it is always best to seek professional support, whether from your GP (to rule out anything more sinister) and/or a registered nutritionist, nutritional therapist or dietician before embarking on a restrictive regime or diet.
