Happy Gut Guide is 12-week self-care programme co-authored by Madeleine Shaw and Dietitian Laura Tilt designed to help IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) sufferers take control of their symptoms.
Research suggests up to 1 in 5 people in the UK will experience IBS symptoms at some point in their life, yet the support services for this life-impacting condition are extremely limited. There is no ‘cure’ for IBS, and the main treatment options involve making changes diet and lifestyle.
So where do you start with IBS? How can you take control of your symptoms?
The Happy Gut Guide Mission
Happy Gut Guide has been designed to help answer these questions because they know how difficult it is for sufferers to access support services – with some being told to ‘look it up online’ or ‘go and drink peppermint tea’.
Seeing a dietitian privately can cost hundreds of pounds – and not everyone has the opportunity to do this. The alternative – accessing a dietitian through your G.P. – can take many months – or may not even be available in your area.
They wanted to help by creating a programme which would empower individuals with IBS to start taking control of their symptoms NOW. This isn’t just about diet – it’s a 360 degree approach which includes mindset, movement, and meals.
